Fitness Assessment

The purpose of the fitness assessment is to determine the client’s individualized, measurable fitness goals, discuss any injuries, review health and exercise history, as well as discuss nutrition as it relates to the client’s fitness goals. This is done through a combination of discussion and a series of functional movement assessments that are used to observe movement patterns, mobility, muscle activation/compensations and overall fitness level. Combined, this information is used to develop a tailored, effective and safe training strategy. The fitness assessment is recommended before beginning personal training.

SMALL GROUP CIRCUIT TRAINING 

Looking for a personal training experience in a group setting? Then Small Group Training is just the thing for you! Join others and workout with a single goal in mind. These 4-week sessions will focus on different aspects of fitness for a well-rounded, full-body workout.

  • Circuit-training style workouts led by a personal trainer.
  • A mix of Strength Training moves and HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training at your own pace)
  • Sign up individually and join the group that works for you!
  • Maximum of 6 people per group

Small Group Training Session – To Be Announced


Fitness Orientation

A more in-depth version of the equipment orientation.  Individuals can seek advice from a personal trainer for a personal workout plan. Program components include cardiovascular exercise, weight training and stretching. In this one hour appointment we will take you thought your new exercise program and make sure your exercise technique is picture perfect.
Cost: Free

Body Fat Testing

Using Bioelectrical Impedance (BI) Method, that sends an extremely low-level electrical current of 50 kHz and 500 µA through your body to determine the amount of fat tissue. This weak current is safe and not felt while operating the Fat Loss Monitor.  It takes less than 5 minutes. Why? Identifying a baseline measurement and monitoring your progress and the effectiveness of your exercise program can provide incentive and motivation to improve your health.
Cost: $10 for an assessment


Students Only

INTRO to Weight-Lifting
Come learn an introduction to weightlifting with the Lafayette student fitness supervisors!  This session will be open to small groups of students who have limited or no prior experience with weight training.  You’ll develop competence with basic weightlifting movements and equipment which will provide you with more confidence using Lafayette’s fitness center!
