The Allan P. Kirby Sports Center is the home of the Department of Recreation Services.
The Kirby Sports Center received Athletic Business’s Facility of Merit Award in 2002. The recreation department has been twice recognized by Lafayette students for its commitment to meaningful student programming at the Aaron O. Hoff awards. Additionally, in 2000, the American Red Cross recognized the department for its proactive approach to safety by requiring CPR with an Automated External Defibrillator for the vast majority of its student staff positions.
Allan Price Kirby ’15 was a devoted alumnus, a dedicated trustee (1937-67), and an enthusiastic supporter of Lafayette’s athletic programs. Among his other gifts to the College are the Kirby Collection of Historical Paintings and the Jessie A. Kirby Residence Hall, a memorial to his mother. The creation of the center was made possible through the exemplary generosity of the F. M. Kirby Foundation, Inc.
