The Allan P. Kirby Sports Center gives Lafayette the finest athletic complex of any college of its size in the country. It includes a 110,000-square-foot intramural and recreational sports facility.

recreation-photos_programs04The Kamine Gymnasium includes three 50-by-84-foot courts for basketball and other sports and an elevated 1/10-mile jogging track. The Buck Courts include six courts for racquet sports, two for squash, and four that can be configured for squash or racquetball.

A 6,600-square-foot fitness center and weight room includes a full strength-training circuit, spacious free-weight area, and more than 30 cardiovascular machines. There is also a 40-foot climbing wall, several group exercise rooms, a game lounge, and conference rooms.

Enhancements to the original field house include a full aquatics program in Weinstein Natatorium, a sports medicine area, equipment room, renovated locker rooms, and administrative offices.

Group Exercise Rooms

Kamine Gymnasium

This space can be divided into three courts prepared for activities such as basketball, volleyball, and badminton. The third court is a specialized area with a synthetic tile surface enclosed by dasher boards for roller hockey, floor hockey, indoor soccer, and team handball. Each court has its own scoreboard.

Fitness Center

A full circuit of 30 “selectorized” strength machines with a separate free-weight area. The facility also incorporates more than 30 pieces of cardiovascular equipment. Learn more about  individual fitness programs.

Elevated Jogging Track

This one-tenth mile track encircles the gymnasium with windows on every side. Pace clocks and stretching areas are located in each corner.

Recreation and Game Room

A favorite area, this large, open space has four billiard tables, three ping-pong tables, two foosball tables, air hockey, and darts. Two 36-inch televisions flank the room, and a group of tables and chairs are available for playing board games and cards.

*The American Red Cross has recognized the department for its proactive approach to safety by requiring CPR with an Automated External Defibrillator for the vast majority of its student staff positions.
