Halloween 2012 Climb a Success!

On Friday the 27th, the climbing wall hosted it’s annual Halloween Climb.
The event ran from 10 pm to 1 am and everyone had a great time. We had a bunch of people come down, and some came in AWESOME costumes. To start off the night some of the climbers participated in the game G.H.O.S.T., which is very similar to the game horse, while others opted to just climb the wall in their costumes. Throughout the night we gave out random raffle prizes and played some other great games. One of the patrons even brought down face paint to put on other climbers. Unfortunately all good things must come to and end and eventually we had to close the wall for the night. On the bright side, there is the 007 James Bond Climb to look forward to on Friday November 30th! Hopefully we will see you there!

Recreation Center Update – We’ve Returned to Normal Hours of Operation

As of Monday, November 5th, the recreation center is back to normal hours of operation in all activity and programmatic areas including the swimming pool. Thank you for your patience!

Recreation Center Status Update for Wednesday, October 31st

Kirby Sports Center is scheduled to be open today from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but with limited services as follows:

All fitness center equipment is operational except for the treadmills.
The wood courts in Kamine Gym can be used for recreational activity.
Our racquet courts and swimming pool do not have sufficient light to be operational.
We have a spin cycling class scheduled for today at 2 pm (and if there are a lot of people interested, we will hold a second at 3:15 pm.)
The climbing wall is scheduled to be open from 1 pm to 4 pm.

Department sponsored programs, aside from what is listed above, have been cancelled and sports clubs who would like to resume practice sessions (either indoor and/or outdoor) should contact sportsclubs@lafayette.edu to initiate that process.

Cell phones and other electronics may be charged in the second floor hallway outside of room 229.

Recreation Center Status Update for Tuesday, October 30th

Due to worsening weather conditions caused by the storm, the Kirby Sports Center will remain CLOSED through Tuesday, October 30th. All department sponsored programs have been cancelled and all sports club activity (both indoor and outdoor) should be suspended until further notice.

Re-opening of the recreational facility will be dependent on outdoor conditions becoming safe enough for our students to move about campus and on whether the facility has sufficient power to support our most basic activities and programs.

As conditions change, this site will be updated and the voice message at 610-330-5770 will reflect changes to the recreational facility hours.
